4,000 Miles

A motif I noticed in 4,000 miles was the word "whaddyacallit". This word was EXTREMELY over used and it fits the requirement to be a motif. Vera is one of the primary people that use this word whenever she tried to think of a word but couldn't get it out. Overall, I liked this play but that word was used many, many times.

Judith...Oh, Judith.

My MDQ for this play would have to be "Will Judith change her mind about killing Holofermes?" I think that deep down, Judith didn't want to kill him because she be can to care for him in a way. I honestly think that if it weren't for the harm it would bring people she cared about, Judith would've chosen to not follow through with this murder. She seemed to have some sort of regret after she killed him and this added to my understanding that this is something she truly didn't want to do.

'Night Mother

Phew. This play was emotionally stimulating to say the least. However, it made for a great read and a great script that allows us to have multiple Major Dramatic Questions. While the director may decide to use the MDQ "Will Jesse Kill Herself?", I have come up with one of my own that I feel would make for a more complete script. I chose the question, "Will Mama convince Jesse to stay alive?" because I feel like one could use the different tactics Mama used to provide a more complete and suspenseful story. Mama uses multiple forms of persuasion, including the truth, to keep Jesse alive but in the end, Mama failed her task and the story ends. So I feel that this MDQ could be more of a good fit for this script. Once the question is answered the script ends and it prompts a "yes" or "no" response, making it feel the standards of a MDQ.

Real Housewives of the 19th Century (Overtones)

This play was particularly funny to me. I just instantly reminded me of cast members of the hit reality TV series "The Real Housewives Of..." various places. The women were so wrapped up in materialistic things and the being of a man, they couldn't put things aside to see that they might have been the best of friends despite these things. I feel that their Undertones may have been the more naive versions of themselves, in the fact that they didn't want to admit their true emotions, while the overtones told it like it was....or something like that. Overall, this play was really entertaining and I would love to see all of the creative ways this play could be pulled off in a live performance.
